Clarence R. (“Reggie”) Williams

 

Clarence R. (“Reggie”) Williams has been a Rotarian since January 1993 and has served as the Rotary Club of San Antonio’s Director (1996-1997), Vice President (1997-1998), President-Elect (1999-2000) and President (2000-2001). During his year as president of The Rotary Club of San Antonio, it grew to over 750 members to become the largest Rotary Club in the world. Reggie was President of the San Antonio Rotary Club when it was the “Host Club” and District 5840 was host district to the very successful 2001 Rotary International Convention. He and his wife, Buzz, are both Paul Harris Fellows. Reggie has enjoyed three careers: Philanthropy, United Services Automotive Association (USAA), and the United States Air Force. All three careers have emphasized “Service above Self.”

 

Reggie is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of the San Antonio Area Foundation (SAAF). He leads The San Antonio Area Foundation in accomplishing its mission by “helping donors achieve their charitable goals for the greater benefit of the community.” The San Antonio Area Foundation makes grants throughout San Antonio, Bexar County, and the surrounding area and has assets valued over $210 million.

 

Prior to his current position, Reggie was Senior Vice President of Information Systems Operations at USAA. He was responsible for leading the certification, operation, maintenance and sustainment of all USAA Information Technology Systems as well as its mail and publishing operations. Reggie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The College of Wooster, Wooster, OH, Master of Education Degree from Westfield State Teacher’s College, Westfield, MA and has accomplished Doctoral Study at Auburn University, Auburn, AL. He is a graduate of the Defense University’s Armed Forces Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and numerous technical courses.

 

After graduating from college, Reggie was commissioned an officer into the United States Air Force. He retired form the Air Force in the grade of Colonel.

 

Reggie serves his community. He serves on the Board of Directors, Los Compadres de San Antonio Missions; College of Wooster, Board of Trustees; United Way of San Antonio/Bexar County Board of Trustees; the Board of Christus Santa Rosa Hospital and the Mayor’s P-16 Education Council, et. al. He was inducted into the San Antonio East-side Community’s Counting Your Blessings 2000 Hall of Fame. He is also a member of The Orrville Ohio High School (Charter member), The College of Wooster and The Wayne County, Ohio Sports Halls of Fame.

 

Reggie and his wife Burnedette (Buzz) have two children, Bradley Reginald Williams and Carrie Evelyn McCoy (Mrs. James Matthew McCoy) and a grand daughter, Madison Acker McCoy.
