G R O U P S T U D Y E X C H A N G E The Group Study Exchange (GSE) program of The Rotary Foundation is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women between the ages of 25 and 40 and in the early years of their professional lives. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country's institutions and ways of life, observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas. For each team member, The Rotary Foundation provides the most economical round-trip air ticket between the home and host countries. Local Rotarians in the host area provide for meals, lodging, and group travel within their district. Remember, team members are chosen from young professionals who are non Rotarian nor family of Rotarians. The selected team Leader is to be chosen from interested Rotarians.
In October of 2008, our District will exchange with Mexico (District 4130). The teams will be outbound and inbound at the same time and end in San Antonio at the BiNational Conference on November 22, 2008. See the calendar entry on the index to the left for BiNational. See the District Directory for GSE contacts.
Deadline for Mexico applications is August 15.
Nominations for team member and team leader are due no later than August 15. Please send nominations to Jan Livingston (jliving@swbell.net) or Doug Cross (cross9214@aol.com) Selection will be on August 23. In Spring 2009 (dates pending) our district will exchange with a team from France. All clubs are encouraged to sponsor a team member - it will cost the club nothing, but you will contribute to international fellowship, one of the strategic goals of RI.
