District Governor Elect: Sherri Muniz

Sherri Muniz and her husband, Al, both joined the Rotary Club of Newark, New York in 1997. Sherri served as its president in 2003-04. After moving to Texas, both Sherri and Al joined the Rotary Club of San Antonio North East.

Sherri has served on a number of club and district committees, including Youth Exchange, Interact, and Rotary Gift of Life. She has served three terms as District Membership Chair and chaired the District Assembly in 2009. She and Al have traveled to India to participate in polio immunizations.

Both Sherri and Al are multiple Paul Harris fellows, Benefactors, Sustaining Members, Bequest Society Members, and Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation. Sherri has maintained perfect attendance since joining Rotary. She is the 2001 recipient of Rotary International’s Four Avenues of Service Award.

During her career in education, Sherri taught in public schools throughout the New England states and Alabama, was an adjunct professor of education at the State University of New York – Albany, and founded a private school. She has been recognized by Who’s Who in American Education for her work in that field.

Today Sherri and Al own a wholesale import company, specializing in hobby products including model cars and trains, where Sherri holds management responsibility for finance and accounting.

In her spare time, Sherri enjoys travel, both domestic and international. She has visited over 40 countries (including Rotary clubs in 15 countries) and 48 of the 50 states.

Sherri and Al are the youth-exchange parents of Luis Gustavo, who is currently serving as President of his Rotaract club in Brazil.

With a self-described passion for Rotary’s ability to move mountains in order to make our world a better place, Sherri often quotes Dr. Seuss: “Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting! So... get on your way!”
