Recently the Rotary Club of Boerne (Noontime) celebrated 50 years of service to the Boerne Community. The Ribbon Cutting Celebration was hosted by Frost Bank and the Boerne Chamber of Commerce and was held at Frost Bank with over 150 people joining in the event.
The Boerne Rotarians have a long history of involvement in the community with “hands on “ projects as well as financially supporting many of the local nonprofits. The Rotary Club is a leadership organization made up of local business people, active retired members, local civic leaders and many others interested in getting together regularly to get to know one another, form friendships, have fun, and get involved in community service projects.

The Noontime Rotary Club is also responsible for starting the Fair Oaks Rotary Club and the Sun Rise Rotary Club of Boerne. Among the many projects they support are fund raising for student scholarships, planting trees around Boerne and other citywide projects, providing a Breakfast with Santa replete with gifts for all the children who attend, providing items for Blessings in a Backpack to give children extra meals over the weekend, sponsoring exchange students and, of course, financially supporting many local nonprofits.  One of the highlights of their service history was being elected the Nonprofit of the Year in 2020 by the Boerne community for their leadership in the “Boerne Strong” program during Covid.

Each Friday at Noon the Club members gather to hear interesting speakers on a variety of topics impacting the community. Lunch is available during the meetings at the Kronkosky Center where they gather for an hour. Although the Club’s motto is “Service Above Self” this does not preclude having a lot of fun together.
This was evident at their recent gathering for the recognition of those who served in leadership this past year, led by President Jack Estes, and the induction of the 2023-2024 leadership team led by President Joe Anzollitto.  The Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest seemed to top off the evening’s festivities with a run off spitting contest being necessary before declaring a winner.

In his induction comments President Joe Anzollitto challenged each member to be more visible in the community as a Rotarian and to invite at least one person this year to visit the Noontime meeting and consider joining the Rotary Club. To this end the leadership team was given a Rotary emblem to put on their car and a Rotary license plate holder.
