Rotarians gathered at one of Texas Hill Country’s most iconic destinations to support Rotary’s mission to eradicate polio.
On October 24, Rotarians and community supporters across Rotary District 5840 joined the World’s Largest Polio Walk in recognition of World Polio Day.
The district’s featured walk took place at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area near Fredericksburg, bringing participants together in the beautiful Texas Hill Country for a cause that reaches far beyond our local communities.
Surrounded by the natural beauty of Enchanted Rock, walkers demonstrated their commitment to Rotary’s global effort to end polio. The event provided an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage support, and stand alongside Rotary members around the world who are working toward a polio-free future.
A Local Walk with Global Impact
District 5840’s participation was part of a coordinated effort across Zones 25B and 29, bringing together 16 districts and 444 Rotary clubs across seven states.
Together, Rotarians are on track to raise more than $1.2 million in support of polio eradication. Through Rotary’s partnership with the Gates Foundation, eligible contributions are matched 2-to-1, helping amplify the impact of donations.
Although the walks took place in communities across the region, participants shared one goal: protecting children everywhere from this preventable disease.
Every Step Makes a Difference
Rotary has made extraordinary progress toward eradicating polio, but the work is not finished. Continued fundraising, vaccination, and public awareness are essential to reaching the goal of a polio-free world.
Thank you to the District 5840 Rotarians, volunteers, and supporters who participated in the World’s Largest Polio Walk. By coming together at Enchanted Rock and across the district, you helped shine a light on this important global mission.
Together, we can End Polio Now!
