What was your most memorable Rotary service project? My most memorable Service Project was the Guatemala Project helping a friend from Guatemala collect shoes for the children. Guatemala had experienced a very painful and dramatic disaster when a volcano named “Volcan de Fuego” erupted and the families lost everything.
One thing on this project that made it so special was that my granddaughter wanted to help and on her birthday she asked for shoes for the children instead of gifts.

What part of your cultural heritage are you most proud of? I am proud of my cultural heritage because it's something that will always be a part of me. I grew up knowing the quality of things and of life. My values growing up were similar to my parents helping the community. So I join Rotary because of the community involvement which is my passion to help people.

What was the most important professional decision you made? The most important professional decision I made was accepting a management position during my banking career. We had monthly goals and we had to figure out what actions are needed to meet those goals. We had to sell various banking products and services. We did community service and help families in need during the holidays. My employer RBFCU motto was “People Helping People “. After 33 years in the banking industry I made a decision to retire. I wanted to travel, enjoy my grandchildren, and enjoy the things we worked so hard and saved for.
