The Rotary Club of San Antonio at The Dominion proudly presented a $20,000 donation to the principal and teachers of Leon Valley Elementary School to support the creation of a new Sensory Room for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
This investment reflects Rotary’s commitment to strengthening local schools and supporting the well‑being of children across the community.
The Sensory Room will serve as a therapeutic, student‑centered space designed to help children—particularly those with autism, ADHD, or sensory processing disorders—develop essential self‑regulation skills. The environment will offer calming tools, sensory input, and de‑escalation supports that help students reduce anxiety, regain focus, and return to learning in a calmer, more prepared state.
“Creating a space where students can feel safe, supported, and ready to learn is a powerful step toward inclusive education,” said representatives of The Dominion Rotary Club. “We are honored to partner with Leon Valley Elementary to make this resource a reality for their students.”
The Sensory Room will benefit the entire student body by providing:
- A therapeutic environment for emotional and sensory regulation
- Support for students with diverse learning needs
- A calming space to reduce stress and improve focus
- An inclusive resource that promotes well‑being and academic readiness
Leon Valley Elementary leaders expressed deep appreciation for the gift, noting that the room will have a lasting impact on students’ daily experiences and long‑term development.
This donation is part of The Dominion Rotary Club’s ongoing mission to serve the community through meaningful projects that uplift youth, support education, and promote the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self.
