Several District Interact Clubs collected approximately 25 large plastic trash bags of bottle caps this school year. The bottle caps are delivered to a private recycling company in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico that melts them down, and transfers the money to a non-profit organization in that city.
The proceeds from the melted plastic are used to pay for cancer treatments for children including medicines, supplies, and chemotherapy. The main contributors to this project were the South San HS and Clark HS Interact clubs, however, Champion HS and the Winston School clubs also contributed to the cause. It is a relatively easy way to help the children in Mexico who are suffering with cancer.
