The Fredericksburg Morning Rotary Club recently donated $3,000 to the Fredericksburg High School Engineering Program. This group, comprised of senior students, is working to design and construct a rocket that will launch and reach 50,000 feet in the air. That rocket will be tested at White Sands, New Mexico this summer. These funds will help students to purchase necessary components for the construction of their rocket.
Tanya White-Chambers, president of the Morning Rotary Club stated that “Our club is thrilled to make a financial contribution to this great program In Honor of the Late Robert Hickerson. Bob was a long time member of the Fredericksburg Morning Rotary Club and was a tremendous supporter of the Rocket program in Fredericksburg for many years. We try to support school programs that have a vocational tract, as well as awarding vocational scholarships annually to FISD graduates pursuing further education in trades and health related fields. These kids are challenging themselves mentally and learning college level concepts while at Fredericksburg High School. We are happy to be able to help further that high level of education locally."
