Thank you San Antonio Museum of Art and Rotarian Emily Neff, SAMA Kelso Director, for kindly welcoming members of Rotary Club of San Antonio, TX Young Members Board and U40 Class for such an enlightening evening featuring an exclusive tour of the new exhibit: Envisioning the Hindu Divine: Expanding Darshan and Manjari Sharma. Our program began with a delightful welcome reception -&- insightful discussion on the impact of SAMA in our beautiful City of San Antonio.

Dr. Mai Yamaguchi, Coates-Cowden-Brown Associate Curator of Asian Art [https://www.samuseum.org/press/press-release/san-antonio-museum-of-art-hires-mai-yamaguchi-as-coates-cowden-brown-associate-curator-of-asian-art/], expertly led our tour through the stunning showcase of nine contemporary photographs by artist Manjari Sharma and forty historical objects from India and Southeast Asia, for a comprehensive introduction to the Hindu pantheon. This breathtaking collection from the Birmingham Museum of Art serves as a gateway to the concept of darshan, or the reciprocal experience of seeing and being seen by the Divine. The multidimensionality of these stories - and ours - is vibrantly reflected through each piece in this thoughtfully curated exhibit.
