The night was buzzing with five students from local high schools for the Rotary Club of San Antonio Souths Scholarship Banquet.
 
 
   Rotarians and guest gathered to celebrate this year’s recipients and to honor two Rotarians with the lifetime achievement award. High school seniors from four southside schools were awarded monies to use toward college expenses. Harmony Fulwood and Zoe Zaiontz from East Central High School, Marissa Escamilla from Providence, Luke Sanchez from Somerset, and Francisco Vega from Sam Houston High School were this year's recipients.
    Francisco Vega was also awarded the 2nd annual Mr. G. scholarship. Vega is pursuing his culinary arts degree at Drexel University. Mr. G was the owner of Mr. and Mrs. G’s Home Cooking Restaurant and long time Rotarian. The scholarship was presented by his daughter Vicki.
    Lifetime achievement awards were presented to Bob Murff and Dr. Dottie Williams. Murff joined the Rotary Club of San Antonio South in 1989, Williams joined in 1991. Both are three-time Paul Harris Fellows. For over 30 years they devoted their time, hard work and sacrificed much to make Rotary Club of San Antonio South what it is today.
     The speaker for the night was Texas State Rep. John Lujan, House District 118. Lujan challenged the students and Rotarians to continue to do good in the world. Money for the scholarships was raised through fundraising events throughout the year by the club, Night in Alamo Heights and a golf tournament were the primary fundraisers.
