Every fall for many years the Rotary Club of San Marcos has packed hundreds of bags of school supplies for children in eight rural villages in Mexico, and for several child-serving nonprofits in San Marcos. The packaging this year was done by 30 volunteers on September 2, at the VFW Hall on Hunter Road.

The school supplies include notebooks, pens, pencils, and a variety of art supplies like crayons, glues, and colored pencils. The supplies are delivered to Mexico by Misión De Candelilla (MDC), a Fredericksburg based nonprofit Christian medical organization. MDC conducts wellness clinics in rural villages in Mexico several times each year. As part of their September trip to the villages they deliver school supplies packaged by Rotary.
