The Rotary Club of San Marcos awarded scholarships to nine area seniors from San Marcos High School and Hill Country Christian School. The awards are for the 2023-2024 school year. Students may use the scholarships for either college or vocational education programs.
Recipients from San Marcos High School include Lauren Lopez, Gael Martinez-Alvardo, Waylon Mitchell, Briana Sosa, Roan Turley, Hannah Williams, and Sophia Zavala. Hill Country Christian School recipients include Carigan Juel Davis and Caleb Robert Noble.
Half of the scholarship for Gael Martinez-Alvardo was raised by Early Act students at Travis Elementary. Martinez-Alvardo attended Travis, and students there raise money each year for a scholarship for a former student, which is matched by the Rotary Club. San Marcos Rotary recently presented two Rotary 4-Way Test banners to Travis Elementary. The students there say the 4-Way Test every morning at the start of school.
