San Marcos Rotary mobilized 140 volunteers ranging in age from 7 to 97 to pack 14,400 bags of nonperishable food, each serving six meals. Volunteers came from San Marcos and Wimberley Rotary, Rotaract at Texas State University, the Lions and Kiwanis Clubs, and 45 fraternity and sorority students at Texas State.
It was the 5th annual Rise Against Hunger event sponsored by San Marcos Rotary. In past years the food has been shipped to Burundi in Africa, Haiti, and Honduras.
