Fredericksburg Rotary Club is bringing water and sanitation to 7,506 children attending 13 public schools in a rural impoverished area of Tanzania.
District Clubs are invited to contribute to the $308,000 project. Thanks to Fredericksburg Morning, Nimitz, Ballinger, Uvalde, Downtown New Braunfels and Pleasanton for donating. Construction is starting soon on the first school Rubya A's rainwater catchment tank, toilets and handwashing facilities. Children at Rubya A currently walk 4 miles to fetch water and 430 students share 10 toilets. Project benefits include better health, more time for academics and a better future for the children of Tanzania.
The impact of this project is 7,506 children attending public school in Muleba, Tanzania, will experience fewer water-borne illnesses, more time for academic study and a better future.
