In today’s fast-scrolling digital world, you have only a few seconds to grab someone's attention on social media. The key? Keep your posts short, visually engaging, and purposeful.

Make Every Word Count
Brevity is your best friend. Say what you need to quickly, your audience will either stop and read or keep scrolling. A well-crafted sentence or two can be far more powerful than a long-winded caption.

Use Eye-Catching Images
A great photo can speak louder than words. Look through your past posts and analyze which images got the most likes, shares, or comments. What worked? What didn’t? Let that guide your future content. Engaging images are often the first hook to get someone to pause on your post.

Always Point Back to Your Website
Your content should have a purpose. Whether it’s awareness, sign-ups, or support, include a link back to your website whenever possible. Turn social media interest into meaningful action.

Is Your Website Hard to Remember? Try a Hashtag
If your website URL is long or difficult to recall, consider creating a custom hashtag for your club. Before finalizing it, be sure to "Google" it to confirm it’s not already in widespread use. Once chosen, use this hashtag in every post and include it on your website. Over time, search engines will begin to associate it with your club. So you simply tell people, “Search for us at #ServiceAboveSelf” (as an example). It’s an easy, memorable way to connect people with your online presence.

Use AI Tools to Help You Write
Artificial intelligence can be a helpful partner in creating content. Tools like ChatGPT and Gork (two of my current favorites) can assist with generating well-structured posts. Start by inputting the basics: who, what, when—and especially why. Edit what the AI provides to match your voice. Over time, you’ll learn the quirks of the tool—like avoiding overuse of em dashes or fine-tuning grammar. (The -— between "tool—like", is an em—)

Hashtag Smarter, Not Harder
Stick to no more than three hashtags within your main post. If you want to use more, add them in the comments. They’ll still register in analytics, and your post will look cleaner and less cluttered.

Bonus Tool for Rotarians
Check out this AI tool created specifically for Rotary-related content: Rotarian Consultant on ChatGPT. It’s designed by a Rotarian to help you with Rotary messaging, ideas, and more.

P.S. I wrote this with the help of ChatGPT.
