The Winston School Rotary Interact Club was chartered on September 22, 1995 under the direction of Dr. Charles J. Karulak, Headmaster of the school.
Interact clubs are Rotary International (RI) sponsored community service organizations in middle and high schools around the world. The Winston Interact Club is sponsored by the San Antonio North Central and the Boerne Sunrise Rotary clubs.

This year as the club celebrates its 25 Anniversary it is known as one of the most active volunteer groups in the community. It has established a reputation as a team built on reliability, commitment, and dedication along with a strong work ethic. The Winston Interact Club has been serving approximately 20 non-profit organizations in the last 10-12 years. Among these organizations are The Down Syndrome Association of South Texas, The Alzheimer’s Association of San Antonio and South Texas, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Elf Louise, Family Services Association San Antonio, Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio, The San Antonio Food Bank, and United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County.

In the last 12 years the Winston Interact Club has earned the “Best in District” award; it has also earned the Presidential Citation which is awarded by the President of Rotary International a total of 10 years. The club has also been the recipient of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County’s coveted “Volunteer of the Year” award in 2009, 2014, and again in 2018. And perhaps the club’s most prestigious award is the 2014 National Philanthropy Award.

The school’s Interact members have totally embraced the concept of “Service Above Self.” In the last 10 years the club has averaged 80 service projects and logged close to 3,000 cumulative service hours each school year. Additionally, every year 8 to 10 members earn the President’s Volunteer Service Medal. The Interact Club has been sponsored by Spanish teacher Mike Canales for the past sixteen years.
