The five long term inbound students to D5840 during the 2022-23 exchange year have all safely returned home after completion of their 11 month exchanges to Fredericksburg, Boerne, New Braunfels (x2) and Seguin.
Likewise, the three long term outbound students from D5840 have completed their 11 month exchanges to France, Italy and Spain. The three 2023 short term exchange students from D5840 have begun their exchange with one traveling to Germany and two traveling to Italy. They have or will be returning home with their host siblings from those countries to spend a month in Fredericksburg and Kerrville. The D5840 exchange community is excited to welcome 8 students arriving beginning August 1 from Taiwan, Brazil, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Sweden who will be hosted in Pleasanton, Beeville, San Marcos, Fredericksburg, Boerne, Seguin, New Braunfels (both clubs). D5840 Youth Exchange Committee Chair, Stephen Finch, suggests, "the size of our District's exchange program is determined by two things.

First, the number of outbound students, both long and short term, is determined by how many qualified candidates are identified and apply for the program." A brochure is attached with additional information about exchanges. Applications for the 2024 short term and 2024-25 long term exchange program are due September 15, 2023. "Second, the number of inbound students we can host is directly related to the number of clubs in the District which are willing to host. We were very happy to have a 60% increase in hosting clubs for the current year over the previous year. We would love to welcome returning hosting clubs and new hosting clubs to exchange for the 2024-25 exchange year beginning in August of 2024." The contact information on the attached flier may also be used to get your questions answered regarding becoming a host club. A host club commitment document will be forwarded to all club Presidents during the fall.
