During September we celebrate Basic Education and Literacy Month.  In District 5840 all our clubs have amazing service projects in this Rotary Area of Focus! 
District Governor Nominations
District 5840 selects the next District Governor in October each year.  We are actively looking for Rotary leaders to serve in this critical role for Rotary.  This year we will select the person to serve as Governor for the Rotary year beginning July 1,2024.  Persons eligible to be Governor must have served a full term as President of a Rotary Club and have been a Rotarian for seven years.  
Rotary Rockstar Challenge
We are excited to announce the rollout of our new ROTARY ROCKSTAR CHALLENGE! The Rotary Rockstar Challenge was designed to help Clubs increase their public image skill set. The more you promote your Club, the better the odds are at increasing your membership. It is a win-win all around!

We want to CELEBRATE & WELCOME your new Rotary Member! We will provide you with a graphic that can be shared on your Social Media Pages and we will also share the graphic on the District Facebook page!  Enter your new member's name, classification and a photo. Submit here or use the Submit New Member button located on the District home page. 
Selection for 2023-24 Rotary President

Gordon R. McInally, a member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry, Lothian, Scotland, is the selection of the Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International for 2023-24. He will be declared the president-nominee on 1 October if no challenging candidates have been suggested.

McInally lauded Rotary’s ability to adapt technologically during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the approach should continue and be combined with the best of our past practices as Rotary seeks to grow and increase engagement.

Get Ready For World Polio Day
Take action for World Polio Day on 24 October by promoting awareness of Rotary’s polio eradication efforts, raising funds, and planning club events. Let’s engage our communities in the fight against polio, because as long as polio exists anywhere, it remains a threat everywhere. Check out our World Polio Day event page for resources, graphics and fundraising ideas.
Are we ready to help our currently projected attendance of  2500 handicapped children at Morgan's Wonderland on Halloween evening October 31, 2021?  Hopefully the answer is - YES WE ARE!!  We are so excited since this year we are BACK IN THE PARK!
Rotarians Partners with Hondo Public Library
Our Rotary Club partners with the Hondo Public Library every year to support their Summer Reading Program.
Back to School 
The Fredericksburg- Nimitz Rotary Club held a ‘back-pack and school supply’ event on July 27th in support of the Hill Country Needs Council’s effort to serve the children of Gillespie County.
Rise Against Hunger 
The Rotary Club of San Marcos is sponsoring Rise Against Hunger on Sat., Oct. 16 from 9-Noon. Volunteers will pack 15,000 meals for shipment to Africa.

San Marcos Sends School Supplies to Mexico
The Rotary Club of San Marcos and the Mision de Candelilla (MdC) in Fredricksburg partnered on August 27 to pack and deliver school supplies for children in seven impoverished villages in Mexico as an international project. 
3rd Annual Wellness Fair- Medina County 
The Rotary Club of Hondo-D'Hanis was one of the sponsors of the 3rd Annual Community Wellness Fair held in Hondo on August 14th.
Blanco County Community Resource Center
Dawn Capra and Alyce Sierra with the Blanco County Community Resource Center (CRC), located in Johnson City, were guests at the Rotary Club of Blanco County meeting August 16.
San Saba Rotary's 7th Annual Golf Tournament

Travis Elementary School's EarlyAct Program
Last year, during the pandemic year, Travis Elementary had 610 in-school students and 110 online students – all students involved in the EarlyAct program and character building principals.
Community Grants Make a Difference
Rotarians in Seguin have a long history of providing community grants within Guadalupe county. Normally through fund raising, the club awards 10 to 12 grants per year. It is indeed a tradition, that the Grants Committee and Club Members strive to focus on, year after year.
Rotarians Kick off 3rd Annual Gun Raffle 
The Rotary Club of Hondo-D'Hanis kicked off our their 3rd Annual Gun Raffle on Saturday, August 14th!
School Resource Rally Project
The Rotary Club of Fair Oaks Ranch recently partnered with the Boerne Independent School District, and a variety of community supporters, to conduct a back-to-school Resource Rally. Club members assisted in serving approximately 400 students; ensuring they had the counseling and resources needed for a successful start to the new school year.
Ace Roundup Program Money Goes Back To The Community
Recently our Canyon Lake Ace Hardware store awarded the Canyon Lake Rotary Club over $7,800 for participating in the Roundup program. The Club will fund various projects to help the Community.
Fair Oaks Ranch Fundraiser
The beautiful Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club will be the setting for this year's annual fund raiser golf tournament hosted by the Rotary Club of Fair Oaks Ranch on Monday, Oct 4, 2021.  
New Members at Fredericksburg-Nimitz
The Fredericksburg-Nimitz Rotary Club inducted four new members at it's Back Pack/School supply event held on July 27th.  We welcomed Dave and Gina Woodward and Mike and Debbi McCurdy to our Rotary family!  Of the club's 31 members, 22 are 'couples'.
Rotarians In Action
This morning 25 members of Kerrville noon, satellite and Interact kids from Tivy along with friends and family met under the bridge of Louise Hayes park and picked up a full bag of trash each, along the path up to Lehmann Park.

The Rotary Club of San Marcos invites District 5840 Rotarians to a grand gala to celebrate its 100th Anniversary on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Embassy Suites Ballroom in San Marcos.
34th Annual Alamo Heights Night® (AHN)
The Alamo Heights Rotary Club will present its 34th Annual Alamo Heights Night® (AHN) on April 1st, 2022, on the University of the Incarnate Word campus.The event is an official San Antonio Fiesta® Commission event.
