Another month has come and gone with only 4 months left of this Rotary year. My focus now is to help our clubs reach the goals they set at the beginning of the year. We are accountable for our own success. Clubs have done a great job this year and I would like each club to receive the recognition from Rotary International through the Rotary Citation.
What was your most memorable Rotary service project? Having been a Rotarian for over thirty years, I can think of many memorable service projects. However, the one I want to mention is my first service project back in the 1990’s as a member of the Rotary Club of Alamo Heights.

School Fuel in San Marcos provides a bag of food for school students who depend on school meals and need weekend and holiday food when school meals are not available. San Marcos Rotarians helped pack 1,000 bags on Thursday, February 1.
On February 4, 2023, Pete Siegel, District 5840 International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians Coordinator, presented Eagle Scout Caleb D. the IFSR Eagle Scout recognition certificate at his Court of Honor. Caleb is a member of San Antonio Troop 650 chartered with Concordia Lutheran Troop.
The best and brightest young professionals of New Braunfels were honored recently at the Rising Stars of New Braunfels Awards and half of the ten member class of 2024 are members of the Rotary Club of New Braunfels. The award honors locals under the age 40 who excel in their careers and give back to the community.

After two years of fundraising, the Fredericksburg-Nimitz Rotary's project of replacing the historic cross on Cross Mountain has come to a conclusion. The new cross replaces the one that has been there since before 1940 and was in various stages of deterioration.
The Beeville Rotary Club starts an ongoing service project to help the local United Methodist Church with donations of used and new towels. The donations of towels and money to purchase towels will be used for the homeless in the Beeville community. The church provides showers and food to the homeless.

District 5840 was well represented by its eight exchange student, members of the District Committee and DG Monica, DGE Kristen and DGN Craig at the Winter Conference of South Central Rotary Youth Exchange in Tulsa, Oklahoma, January 26-28. Joining this group were students and district leaders from the other 36 member Districts of South Central Rotary Youth Exchange.
The Fredericksburg Morning Rotary Club recently donated $3,000 to the Fredericksburg High School Engineering Program. This group, comprised of senior students, is working to design and construct a rocket that will launch and reach 50,000 feet in the air. That rocket will be tested at White Sands, New Mexico this summer. These funds will help students to purchase necessary components for the construction of their rocket.
Librarians in Fair Oaks Ranch are beaming today after receiving grant money to purchase more library books. The Fair Oaks Ranch Rotary Club helped two local elementary schools promote literacy!
The Boerne High School Interact Club recently performed two community service projects. On Friday afternoon, February 23, the Interact Club assisted the librarians at the Boerne Public Library with counting puzzle pieces for the variety of puzzles children work at the library to make sure that each one was complete.
