Members of the Rotary Club of Blanco county offered support to Johns on City. Connie Cox, Sid Cox, Jan Gass and Jerry Gaas help direct pedestrian traffic across main Street.
The water catchment project initiated by the Rotary Club of Fredericksburg and funded by the Nimitz Rotary Club, Fredericksburg Morning Club, Rotary Club of New Braunfels and Rotary Club of Canyon Lake as well as a District 5840 Grant and individual Rotarian contributions is well under way.
The Valero Energy Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant in support of the upcoming 2020 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) conference. The funds will enable additional high school juniors from underprivileged communities throughout the district who otherwise would not have been able to attend the upcoming January 17-20 conference.
The Alamo Heights Rotary Club will present its 34th Annual Alamo Heights Night® (AHN) on April 17th, 2020, on the University of the Incarnate Word campus.The event is an official San Antonio Fiesta® Commission event.
Our outbound global education grant scholar, Chinelo Nwokem from Texas State, will be in Houston one weekend this month for training with other Texas scholars. Chinelo is sponsored by the Rotary Club of San Marcos and will be pursuing a graduate degree in Global Health and Development at the University College of London. Her undergraduate major is microbiology and her goal is to be a global travelling physician. Hers is a $30,000 grant funded by district Rotarians as part of their contributions to The Rotary Foundation.
Another success annual Holiday Eve of Giving Dinner. This year our Rotary Club Of San Antonio South sponsored 2 families...The Rodriguez Family from East Central ISD & the Garza Family from Somerset ISD.
The Fair Oaks Ranch Club held a festive Holiday Party December 11th at the Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club. Over 40 Rotarians and their guests enjoyed a wonderful meal and a fun-filled evening that was highlighted by a white elephant gift exchange hosted by Rotarian Tom McKeown. Penny Sawyer and Jane Burton served as event coordinators and went beyond Service Above Self to orchestrate a memorable night of joy and friendship.
For the past five years, the Alamo Heights Rotary Club (AHRC) has been providing support to the Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC) at Joint Base San Antonio, Ft Sam Houston. Wounded/injured military personnel are being rehabilitated, treated and cared for at the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) and the Center for the Intrepid. Children and family members come to visit and assist in recovery and often arrive with nothing to take care of themselves.
November 9, 2019 was the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Lady Bird Johnson Park in Fredericksburg. They made a presentation to the club a couple of weeks before,
Rotarians and Interact Club students will arrived at Ray H. Darr Elementary at noon on Friday, December 13th to read to first, second and third graders with Santa hats, books and candy in tow.
