The District Rotary Raffle for the Annual Fund kicked off this morning at The Pearl Brewery with several Rotarians from around District 5840! Participation in the drawing helps raise funds for The Rotary Foundation - Annual Fund. The Annual Fund supports our local and global grants. Seven names were called and each winner will receive a $1,000 Visa Cash Card. The winners are:

Fredericksburg Rotary Club is celebrating the completion of rainwater catchment tanks, toilets, hand washing facilities and incinerators for sanitary napkins at seven public schools in Katoma, Tanzania.
On Sunday, April 30, 2023, the Rotary Club of San Antonio Pearl handed out food, including plates of lasagna and salad, as well as essentials, such as feminine hygiene products and other toiletries.
On Monday, May 15th members of the Jourdanton Rotary Club gathered for the Annual Senior Luncheon held at the local Community Center. Graduates were served beef nachos with all the fixings, drinks, and dessert. The Senior Class, many of which belong to the Jourdanton Interact Club, had fun taking photos with props and backgrounds.
On May 7, 2023, Pete Siegel presented the International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians (IFSR) Eagle Scout recognition certificate to Clifton M. of Scouts BSA Troop 90. He beautified the courtyard of San Antonio Independent Living Services (SAILS) by installing two handicap ramps, building two handicap picnic tables, mulching two flower beds, and staining the surrounding fence. He earned 50 merit badges, 29 more merit badges than the 21 merit badges required for the Eagle Scout rank. Troop 90's charter sponsor is Abiding Presence Lutheran Church.
The Rotary Club of New Braunfels recently held their annual Top 10 Academic Students Recognition Program, celebrating the top ten graduating seniors from Canyon High School, New Braunfels High School, and the New Braunfels Christian Academy.
The Rotary Club of Boerne is one of three Rotary Clubs that support Blessings in a Backpack, a non-profit organization. For ten years this organization has been providing weekend food packages consisting of two breakfasts, two lunches and several snacks to children living in poverty who are enrolled in the Federal Meal Program.
While rainy weather threatened, the day turned out to be lovely for the San Marcos Rotary Scramble 4 Scholarships on May 12 at the Double J Golf Course in Woodcreek, TX. The event drew about 60 golfers with many sponsors. Proceeds fund scholarships for San Marcos area seniors.
The Rotary Club of Fair Oaks Ranch was able to raise enough funds through private donations and club / foundation sources to proudly sponsor the School Resource Officer (police) program full time for Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary School. There is no higher community priority than keeping our children / future leaders safe while they grow and learn.
Fredericksburg Nimitz Rotary were the recipients of the District 5840 Rotary Club of the Year award presented to attending members at the District Conference held on May 6th in San Antonio.
The Rotary Club of San Marcos fundraising watermelons are on their way north from South Texas. Proceeds will help fund fall food service projects. They will be sold at farmers markets and roadside stands.
Several Rotarians from the Blanco County Club traveled to Placencia Village, Belize, Central America in May. As an international project, they visited St. John’s Primary School and presented them with approximately 100 books for the school’s library and 50 hygiene kits for children of the school.
YOUR Rotary Club partnered with San Antonio District 3 and Operation Rebuild to assist a local resident in need of yard clean up, Thursday, May 25. Rotarians being Rotarians stepped in to help and even brought along friends to assist.
At Canyon Lake High School's recent annual awards celebration, the Canyon Lake Rotary granted three students 4-year scholarships valued at $16,000 each. These are cash scholarships and can be used to offset any school related expenses incurred. The deserving students from left to right are Evelyn Van Houten, Ian Morris and Mackenzy Sweet all formerly students at Canyon Lake High School.
Two Rotary Four Way Test banners are posted at Travis Elementary in San Marcos. One is at the entrance and the other in the cafeteria. Students recite the test daily. This is the 14th year of Earlyact Rotary program at Travis. Rotarians Ben Duncan and David Rodriguez are club representatives to the school.
