There will be a Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) on Saturday, August 20th, 2022 from 8:30AM to 4:30PM at the Spring Creek United Methodist Church, 28970 Old Fredericksburg Rd, Fair Oaks, TX 78015. The institute is $50 and is open to all Rotarians.

One of the most frustrating things about malaria is the preventable suffering it imposes on families. The death of a child or a parent, the loss of work, or economic stability can be devastating.
Imagine That! Three D5840 clubs top $1,000 per capita giving! Hats off to Fredericksburg, Fair Oaks and San Antonio Airport for their 2021-2022 contributions to the Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation. Rotary awards banners to the top three clubs and this is the first year any club exceeded $1,000; much less three clubs.
Members of the Rotary Club of New Braunfels and Rotary Club of Zacoalco de Torres, Mexico recently completed a five-day environmental project where they planted 6,500 trees and helped landscape Zacoalco’s new Rotary Park.
The club held its annual backpack and school supply drive at Western Edge Cocktails and Kitchen. We received $900 in monetary donations, 90 backpacks and the club purchased an additional 30 backpacks to provide to the Hill Country Needs Council. Fredericksburg Nimitz Rotary will be holding a golf tournament to raise money to replace the cross at Cross Mountain Park. The tournament will be held at Lady Bird Golf Course in Fredericksburg on October 10, 2022.
This past June a dinner and installation ceremony introduced the new club President for 2022- 2023 as Jack Estes, the President Elect as Joe Anzollitto and Susie Smith as the Vice President.
World Food Day is October 15. San Marcos Rotary, partnering with Rotarians in Wimberley and Kyle, plan three events and need volunteers or donations of food or cash.
The Honorable Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez, Michael Quintanilla, and David Cruz shared their stories of their childhood, coming-of-age, and professional successes/challenges of being perceived differently in sexuality, preference and the community. We invited them to be our featured speakers at a June Pride-themed social with the Rotary Club of San Antonio Pearl.
San Antonio has over 3,000 Afghan recently arrived refugee families plus many refugees (defined as legally here and unable to return to their country of origin) from Asia and Africa (and a few from Ukraine). A volunteer center is coordinating a backpacks filled with school supplies for refugee children event early August and needs supplies and volunteers, with a goal of 750 backpacks and volunteers signing up for 2-3 hours shifts online via Sign Up Genius.
National Night Out at the San Antonio Zoo was celebrated June 17, 2022. Kim Munoz represented the Airport Rotary Club. We participated in this event on behalf of our club to support our club DEI initiatives. Diversity, equity & inclusion in Rotary International.

Ron Weaver has been a Bell Collector for many decades with a collection of over 3000 bells. He is retired and was in the process of getting rid of some of his bells and found one he obtained at a flea market in the Valley 55 years ago.
The San Angelo Sunrise Rotary Club held a 5k run on April 30, 2022, the RAT RACE is held each year to benefit several local and one international charity.
The Canyon Lake Rotary Club was recently recognized by the Community Recreation and Resource Center as a “Food Pantry Champion”! This area Organization serves residents with needed food and warm clothing items and wanted to recognize Rotary’s many different ways it supports local community through its service efforts.
Rotarians from Fair Oaks Ranch and Boerne, recently gathered in the Boots Gaubutz Park to plant a tree and dedicate a plaque in memory of Penny Saywer, who had a long-time and wide impact in the Rotary clubs and communities of both cities.
Rotary Club of Blanco County member, Connie Cox, attended the Rotary Club of Placencia Belize club meeting in Central America on July 19. The two clubs are planning to partner in providing hygiene kits to school children in the villages of Placencia and Seine Bight. Representatives of the Rotary Club of Wimberley recently traveled across the district to join the Uvalde Rotary Club members to, basically, give them a group hug. The Wimberley Rotarians joined Uvalde at one of their regular Thursday meetings, and heard a counselor who is dedicating her services to the community.
