District Conference
YO Ranch Resort & Conference Center
Nov. 9-11, 2022
Join Rotary District 5840 as we celebrate how Rotary Changes Lives!!!
Two great experiences in one! Attend the Rotary District 5840 Conference Nov 9-11 in Kerrville and experience a great Texas hotel. Learn more about Rotary and have a fun weekend. Embrace the spirit of the Old West at the Y.O. Ranch Hotel & Conference Center.
Legendary stories of cowboys and frontiersmen come to life in a sprawling hotel, named for the historic Y.O. Ranch that once stretched over 600,000 acres of this rugged landscape. Every inch of the hotel pays tribute to the Old West, from exotic game trophies and century-old antiques to the 390 branding irons dangling from the chandeliers.
Wednesday November 9th is our fun & games night!  From 6:30pm-8:30pm you can mix and mingle with Rotarians from throughout the District.  Put together a team to compete in virtual and other games.  How about getting your Assistant Governor to play with members from all their clubs?  Enjoy pizza, wine & beer or non-alcoholic selections.  Food and (2) drinks are free!
Club Awards and Recognition is built into every part of the conference!  Did your club earn a Rotary Citation?  Did you reach EREY this year, Every Rotarian Every Year?  How about Fundraising, Membership and Public Image Excellence?  This conference will celebrate all the members and clubs hard work in attaining goals in 2021-2022, as well as the amazing service they have provided within their communities.  It will be fun!
General sessions start on Thursday, with registration open at 7:30am for those who did not register earlier.  There will be a full Continental Breakfast and an exciting Speaker on DEI and Generational Challenges.  Then, two plenary sessions to build on your knowledge of Public Image and Membership Recruitment & Retention.  These will be networking sessions, along with the latest information on what works.  Lunch on Thursday features Kelly C. Atkison, PDG our Keynote Speaker.  Kelly is a former State Representative from Utah, who joined Rotary in 1987.  Since that time, the Atikson's have hosted over 30 exchange students and have had both their sons and two grandsons experience a foreign exchange.  His topic for Thursday is the "4 Way Litmus Test."
Thursday afternoon there will be plenary sessions plus a Service Project before we break to get ready for our Celebration Dinner.  We have a session on Successful Service Projects and an inspirational speaker who will talk about how we "Leave A Legacy."  Our E-Club to Combat Human Trafficking will be with us to share how each of us can make a difference in our own way to help fight human slavery. The Service Project will put together "recovery" backpacks for endangered youth and young adults, working with Ransomed Life in San Antonio for distribution.
Friday morning Breakfast will be a special tribute to our Youth Programs: Early Act, InterAct, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Rotary Youth Exchange. Youth are the future of Rotary and have much to share about why the 4 Way Test works for them! Morning sessions will cover Building New Clubs and Foundation/Polio Plus information. We will then be celebrating the service of all our Veterans with a Closing Lunch. Col Tom Norris from Fredericksburg will be there to share his personal story of survival as we honor all branches of the Military.
