September is Rotary’s Basic Education and Literacy Month, a time to celebrate the many ways Rotary clubs help people gain the knowledge, resources and opportunities they need to succeed. The Rotary Club of San Angelo recently brought that commitment to life by supporting Angelo State University’s Ram Pantry.
Club members collected food, toiletries and other essential items and recently delivered their donations to the university. The Ram Pantry provides these necessities at no cost to ASU students who may be experiencing financial challenges.
For a college student, having access to basic necessities can make a meaningful difference. When students don’t have to worry about where their next meal or essential supplies will come from, they can focus more of their energy on what brought them to college in the first place—earning an education and building their future.
Education isn’t supported only through classrooms, scholarships and textbooks. Sometimes, it happens by removing one more obstacle standing in a student’s way.
Through this thoughtful project, the Rotary Club of San Angelo is showing how Service Above Self can make a real difference—one donation, one student and one opportunity at a time.
