As a Rotarian, you have the ability to help make someone’s graduate education a reality.  How, you ask?  By identifying a person to apply for a Rotary District 5840 Global Education Grant. 
The grant is for post-baccalaureate study at a recognized university in a non-U.S. country in a study discipline that supports the Object of Rotary and the Mission of The Rotary Foundation (see  www.rotary.org). The grant is a minimum of $30,000 for one year. 
 
Applicants’ planned studies must:
Lead to sustainable, high-impact outcomes in one of the following seven Areas of Focus:
  •                 Peacebuilding and conflict prevention
  •                 Disease prevention and treatment
  •                 Water, sanitation, and hygiene
  •                 Maternal and child health
  •                 Basic education and literacy
  •                 Community economic development
  •                 Environment

Application deadline:  November 25, 2023
In-person interviews:  December 9, 2023
Training in Houston (expenses paid by District):  January 5-6, 2024
 
Persons in the following categories are ineligible: a) a Rotarian or Honorary Rotarian; b) an employee of a Rotary Club or District, of Rotary International, or of another Rotary-affiliated entity; c) a spouse, a lineal descendant (child or grandchild by blood or adoption, a spouse of a lineal descendant, or an ancestor (parent or grandparent by blood) of any living person in categories (a) (b); and Rotarians and their relatives as described above remain ineligible for 36 month after resignation.
